Clutch Pedal Sound ?
Hi all.
A quick question rgearding my S40 1.8xs 1999
Ive noticed recently, when drving along once i put the car in to gear and lift up the clutch pedal, i get a slight click sound or clunk sound as the pedal comes about half way up. It feels as if the pedal itself is catching on something or the mechanism itself. Any ideas ? sometimes it doensnt do it. but more often than not it does it the majority of the time.

Its hard to describe, as i bring up the clutch pedal after putting it in gear, there is a clunk sound and you can feel it through your foot as the sound is made also. only when the pedal comes up, not when engaging the clutch though. Hope that helps explain ?
I took down the underdash piece that is also connected to the front dash bezzel, and laid on my back pushing the clutch in and out and found that there is a spring with a metal rod trough the middle of it. As the clutch is depressed the spring in seated into a plastic cup that it pushes against the grease that is in the cup had all "flowed" out of the cut i'm going to get some of that grease and put some back into cup and see it this helps...the sound is the spring twising in that cup
Hope this helps any questions on getting dash down just ask.
Rick
