Hello,
If you can drive your car safely, try visiting a local AutoZone and have them retrieve the codes; they provide free OBD-II diagnostic service. The AutoZone right by O'Hare uses Actron CP9175 scanner, which gives you both the mfg code &brief problem descriptions.
If that doesn't help, try Patrick Volvo, which should be close from where you live. I used to visit Woodfield Mall and bought many tools at Sears.
