I'm assuming you want to hook your laptop to your engine, there are several engine management programs for cars but there IS actually one just for the s40, you can change your a/f ratio, automatic transmission shift points, valve timing and even turbo boost pressure (the boost pressure is controlled electronically so you have to tune it with a computer, a turbo timer and solenoid boost controller do nothing) I had this program put on my ecu, but I seen if on the 7" lcd touch screen, so I'm sure you can put it on your laptop. However, I only recommend this custom control if you really understand cars, if you don't know exactly what each parameter does you can really screw up your engine, you can contact the people who make the s40 ecu through www.eurosporttuning.com, it's not their website, but they sell the program on it. good luck

Thanks again mm3_terry, I will look into that. I would not start reprograming the car without first learning what to do. But I would like to start understanding what the car is doing and set a base line for improvments. I am also considering having the epromm reprogramed. Has anyone done this. I am told that i can get the stock turbo the boost the Hp to 220. I was also wondering if anyone has done this before and how well it worked. The other thing is would you be able to read engine codes with that program? Just wondering.

yes you can get 220hp with your stock turbo but be careful I blew my stock one doing that if you are looking into tuning your car it might be better to spend the extra money and have turbonetics make you a custom intercooled turbo, volvo recommends a max boost pressure from the stock turbo of 16lbs but i blew mine at 14lbs so like i said be careful, good luck
