Default Cost of replacing Oil Pan

Ok here is the cost from the dealer:

Parts: $597
Labor $190
Labor to remove approx $100

Dealer cost : $84/hr

I assume part is = Oil pan @ $350
Drain plug @ $4
Drain plug gasket $1

Ok refill the oil pan with 5 quartz @$20?
Oil filter @ $15?

Price above from another volvo dealership here in MA

So I'm trying to see to change just an oil pan how did he come up with $597 for parts. Anything I might be missing here?

I believe you have a 2005 S40? I see there is an oil pan on eBay for $280 or best offer. The pan is very expensive - $350+. Very simple job to replace it given there are no obstructions under the car. I'm thinking the charge from Volvo is $600 so do it yourself for under $300.

That is amazing. I guess I need to open my own shop and charge reduced rates.

car_nut, you got it. You could open your own side shop on the side and charge $50/hr and still profit a lot.
