my wife was out in her 2000 s40 when she said the gauges stuck. The tach was stuck at 2k and the speedo was at 10mph. the lcd displays below were only showing the top half of the displays. I shut off the car and they stayed this way. I then restarted it nothing changed. I then disconnected the battery for 5 mins still nothing. I have checked the fuses and don't see any that are blown. Everything else seems to be working fine even the lights on the instrument panel work but none of the gauges do including the fuel and engine temp. any help would be greatly appreciated I want to avoid having to take it in.

Sounds like it might be a problem inside the speedo assembly.
