i have a 2000 s40. where is the ecu located. its not under the hood. there seems to be a silver box behind my radio bolted down next to where the OBD plug is. anyone know where the ECU is on this car im trying to take it out to send it away and have it tuned

 

it is below the steering wheel in footwell tucked up against left side. Pop off the panel and you will have access. Here is a link that will provide more info:

i found something under that panel but it was a little plastic box. Not the big metal ecu. Is it farther back tucked up inside. This box I found was basically flush with the panel tucked right behind it.
