If I drive my volve S40 without evap valve connected, will the engine get damaged?

It will not really get damaged but will cause a Check Engine light to come on.

Why are you going to run it without it?

 

Thanks for your reply. I just took my S40 to the dealership to perform the Volve recall to replace the fuel line. Their technician FORGOT to re-connect Evap Valve after replaced the fuel line. The engine stalled when I was on highway. that was scaring. It took them 2 days to figure out that evap valve was disconnected. Now, I got high pitch tones when I step on the gas. Some other thing must go wrong. I have to take the car to the dealership again tomorrow.
