My driver side front door lock does not pop open using the remote key. I can manually press it down to lock and open by using the interior lever for opening door.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

 

I had this a while ago and the contacts needed cleaning inside the front door.

 

Some of the S40/V50's had an issue with the door wire harness connector corroding when it got wet and produced the same symptom. You may need to find the connector, clean it and put a little dielectric grease around the connector housing.

Is dielectric grease really safe for the entire inside of the connectors?

 

Dielectric grease only displaces water. It does not conduct electricity. It's safe inside any connector.
