Default Front Headlight

Does anyone know how to change the front headlight? I received a rock and it totally smashed the lense. The guy at the dealer told me something about removing the bumper. I find that a little hard to believe.
Thanx
Gerry

This is the VADIS instruction for replacing the headlamp on the S40, 2003 model, which I believe you have.

Sorry it is small but it was the only size that was accepted. I increased magnification to 200% and was able to read it , even with my tired old eyes.

I have changed my headlight withoit ditaching the bumper. once you have the screws out you can wiggle it out while pushing down on the bumper close to the grill. It will take a few minutes to do but saves you so much times compared to taking the bumper off. let me know if you would like a better explanation but I hoped that is clear enough to help.

Put painters tape on the bumper splash guard and also on a small prybar---there is enough flexabilty to lower the lip to clear the headlap assembly. A few people have done this....and I did it today.
