Default Has anyone thought of chopping off rear Muffler?

Honestly i was wondering if anybody has thought of just chopping off their rear muffler and using stock tip or maybe slightly different one, their just so damn quiet and with this you still keep your MPG. I'm thinking of doing it.

I have not seen anyone chop off the muffler. Most people have the resonator removed which makes a big difference. I would do that first and see how you like it.

^^+1. Made a huge difference on my Ferrita exhaust!
Doesn't the first gen S40's have 2 resonators??? I thought I rememberd reading that somewhere.

I'd do a resonator delete first and see what you think...

You have to take the car into an exhaust shop and have them replace the resonator with a straight pipe. It's not that hard and it's cost me about $60 to do it.

Did you get any drone or bad vibrations when you removed it?

Nope. Only difference was the exhaust note was just a little louder and deeper on the OEM exhaust.
