Default headlight wiper stop moving in an upright position

i have a 2004 volvo s40 and one of the headlight wipers is no working and it is stuck in an upright position, how do i reset it? do i force it? will it break if i do?

Assuming fuses are good, it's likely that a new wiper motor is required. It's a bumper off job if I recall. Not that uncommon an issue. Honestly, not sure they are of great use unless you are doing a lot of "dirty" driving.

My 2004 S40 did same thing, driver's side headlight wiper. Sometimes it would go down with key off then on but eventually ended upright. Just take the nut off, pull the arm and reposition the arm in the down position so it doesn't look odd. Too much work/expense to repair IMO.
