Default HEADLIGHTS

I just want to confirm something my dealer told me. I have managed to get two stones to hit my front headlight and now the glass cover is severly damaged. This is not a major safety issue for me more of an appearance thing. The dealer told me that I cannot get just the lense in Canada I will have to replace the entire headlight. He quoted me 350+installation. I figure that is another 60 bucks. I am looking at a 400 dollar repair when there is nothing really wrong. I am very disappointed to find out that you cannot just replace the lense. If anyone has any further information on how to repair this without spending hundreds of dollars please let me know.[:@]

Try buyig one on e-bay.
You can't just buy the glass here in the U.S. either.

They told me the same thing on my 850, but I found a place that sold lenses for them. I replaced both of them when only one was damaged because they look a little different. You might have to search around the internet a little to find them, but they can be found. At least they can for the 850. You won't find it from a dealer though. I'll do some looking and see if I can find where I got them when I get home.

Here is a place where you can get the whole assembly for $112 per side. I did not find just the lens yet.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP, I DID CHECK EBAY AND FOUND ONE CURRENTLY AT 110 USD. I GUESS THAT IS THE BEST I CAN DO UNLESS SOMEONE KNOWS WHERE IN EUROPE TO ORDER JUST A LENS. HAS ANYONE INSTALLED AN ENTIRE LIGHT, I REPLACED THE BULBS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND FOUND THAT IT IS A PRETTY HARD JOB.

This is where I got the lens for the 850. Does not have them for the S40 online, but it might be worth giving them a call. It was $120 a piece for the lens.

Just wanted to follow up with my headlights. I have found a light assembly but at a cost of 160 CAN. Better than the 350 from dealer. My next problem is that now I have another stone hole in the other lens. I am a very disapppointed about this as I now feel this is some sort of manufacturing problem. I have driven many cars and I think I have only ever had one or two lights every damaged by stones. I dont drive on gravel roads. If this is a problem with anyone else please let me know. Also I am now in the market for lens covers (plastic) or some other thing I can do. Please let me know if you have any good ideas as i dont want to replace them just to have it happen again.

Since I got another stone in the other light i am now looking at at least 400 bucks. I decided to get some thick packing tape and taped the holes. Cost of Tape 2.99 (looks ok,) Will have to do till I win the lottery.
