Heat, ac and heated seats not working
I have a 2001 s40 with automatic climate control. The 6 buttons on the control don't work except the DSA button. When I put the ac on there is no response. No fan - nothing. Same thing with the heated seats button.
I did leave the car to sit for a few months and the battery died. I bought a new battery and installed it and it runs no problem.
I did notice the fan speed for the ac was a little erratic before I parked the car. Sometimes it would take a few minutes to respond then maybe the fan would come on full blast. I wasn't sure if it just wasn't reading well at the time. I add the detail in this paragraph just in case this is relevant detail to the main problem.
I also checked a bunch of the fuses and none of them were blown.
Des anybody have any ideas on what could be the problem or possible solution?
Thanks,
Ron

The erratic fan is usually the blower motor resistor gone bad. If you can solder you can try the Radio Shack fix for the resistor first and see if that cures your issue. If a new transistor does not cure it then look to the Climate Control Module.
Did you really mean heated seats? That's a new one for me. My 2001 has cloth seats.
Here is the Radio Shack part : 2N3055 NPT
Blower motor resistor; (located behind glove box inside blower housing)

Yes I have leather seats - original from factory.
There are 6 buttons and only one works - the DSA button. The other don"t work and all stopped at the same time.
The six buttons from left to right are:
driver side seat heater, AC, recirculation, Defrost, DSA, passenger side seat heater.
I can solder if that is the solution. Let me know your thoughts. Much appreciated.

I think your issue is more complicated than the fan. Make sure to check ALL the fuses. Not kidding. I had a weird interior lighting problem that turned out to be a blown fuse that was not listed for the lights at all. I had to pull every single interior fuse until I found it. If that checks good then I'm out of ideas other than parts swapping. I have found a nice mostly unmolested 2001 with leather seats at my local pull-a-part a while back. Got the SRS module out of it to fix a constant SRS error light.
Unless you have a DiCE tool?
Since I have 2 S40's and a wife that wants nothing else I bought a DiCE tool to help diagnose issues. This is the tool the dealer uses. Along with VIDA software you can look at all the computer modules to see if one is malfunctioning. I once found an error code stored in the Climate Control Module. You could have a similar issue. I'm just guessing at this point.
