Heat / AC will not turn off
Hello fellow Volvo Enthusiasts.
My Heat / AC will not turn off - 2004 Volvo S40. It's like it's permanantly stuck at 5-of-5 vent speed. The temperature control still works, so I can make it blow cool or warm air as I choose, but I can't get it to turn off. Please help!

Sounds like the blower motor resistor is toast. However, when mine went bad I could at least turn off the whole system. Your description makes it sound like the fan blows wide open even if you select manual control of the fan to zero.
It's bolted to the air box on the pax side behind/under the glove box. I had to remove the glove box and drill a hole to access the screws holding it in place. The glove box hides the holes when installed.
The air blowing across it cools the resistor. A clogged cabin filter will slow the airflow and kill the resistor early.
