Default Help! My car won't start!

I have a 2000 S40 1.9T. It was runing great before, but since last morning it was hard to start, I need crank 3-5 secs and more than 3 time to start it, it also has a rough idle. this morning it completly stop working. I found when I turn the key there is no noise from the fuel pump. is the pump broken?

Thanks

The OEM pump is pretty loud so if you can not hear it running then it doesnt.

thank you all.
My car was towed to mechanic yesterday. He found that it was flooded before, and ECU died and I can see something burn on the board. So, could I buy a used ECU and replace it?

Yes a used one will work but you have to go to a Volvo dealer to initialize the ECU to your car for.Still cheaper than to get a new one tho.
Kinda find it interesting that the mechanic said it is fried because the car was involved in a flood who knows how long ago.Usually if water gets to the electronic stuff it goes out right away and not months/years later.

Thanks , GerBeGurGya

Yes, I did bought an used ECU and it will start several seconds and the stuck. Then I called the volvo dealer for relashing the ECU, but they refused to do it for an used ECU, and want me to buy a new one and do all the work. they will charge me $1200-1400! also called a lot mechanics, no one can do this.

Now I'm thinking of buy a set of VCT2000 or DiCE to do it myself. will this work?

Hook up the ECU you just bought then call a different dealer tell them your car wont start and that you just bought it just play stupid. Its been done before but some of the dealers like the one you contacted will refuse soon as they smell they can make you buy a new ECU instead of the $200 re-flash.

As to if you wanna buy one of those machines there is 2 problem there. One is being the price which is about $8K and even then you can not call Volvo in Sweden to obtain the neccesary codes and program unless you are an authorized Volvo shop/dealer.
