HID conversion in 06 S40
I have searched around quite a bit on the web and have not had much luck finding information on HID conversions in S40s. Has anyone done this in a s40? What brands are good/bad? One of my biggest scares is that once a kit is installed, the computer will flag a bulb failure since the HIDs draw less wattage. I would like to add them to the low beams and fog lights. Any guiding words?
Thanks,
Cbom

1. Welcome to the forum.
2. You need to go to, http://www.sharphid.com/
Many many Volvo owners have installed these in their cars. I can't say any s40's for sure, but many many Volvo owners have these installed. The prices are the best around for the amount of warranty you get, which is a lifetime warranty on all the kits but one.
3. If you know anything about HID's you should know already that the higher HID's you get the less light output they provide. 4300k-5500k provide the most lumens. All you get with higher K HID's is a different color (Blue, Purple). If that is what you want that is fine, but FYI you wont get the most light output.
4. These kits are so easy to install.

This maybe a stupid question but I was looking at the linkSharpHID.com under HID Info button
35 watts vs 50 watts, the 50 watt produces a lot more lumens than 35 watts.
Bulb Temperature 35 watt lumens 50 watt lumens Colour3000K 2950 3700Yellow4300K 3200 4100 White with slight yellow5000K 3150 4050 White

RE: HID conversion in 06 S40
I did the HID conversion on my 2005 S40, all you have to do is go to the dealer and have them turn off your DRLs so the light doesnt flicker. It only flickers in "O" position, which is technically supposed to be the off position, but when in the On position there are no problems.

RE: HID conversion in 06 S40
hey guys,
i'm new to the forum. i was looking at the bulb types in my driver's manual and i was looking at the websites that you guys have up on HID conversion. (by the way, my car is a new 2007 volvo s40 2.4i, nothing too special. haha)
so i was wondering, if i wanted to install HID's for the high and low beams, what would i be looking for on these websites specifically? considering that the low beams are H11 / 55W and the high beams according to the manual are 55W/HB3.
i saw that you guys were recommending that HID conversion would be a better idea, but since my car is brand new, is it smarter to just get HID-esque bulbs and wait for the warranty to expire since i dont' want to void anything?

ORIGINAL: 2007~S40~2.4i
I thought the warranty for Fords and Volvo was covering powertrain, transmission, like I understand if you put in an aftermarket turbo that probably void the warranty because increase wear on the engine and trans.
