Default Idling issue

I have a s40 2001 2.0turbo engine. its starts fine but after about thirty seconds it flutters and die, I restarts and it does same. I would have to rev it till the temperature rise to a running temperature before it starts running properly and below 1000rpm

I have tried increasing the engine speed cos it idles below 1000rpm then again it drops back down thinking it should solve the problem but it doesn't, sometime while driving it dies on me but when i crank it back up it starts up and runs fine; I suspected the fuel pump which I changed this weekend but the problem still persist. Please guys what do I do before the mechanic in my country destroys my car cos most of them are crap in my opinion.

I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator. Check the fuel pressure to make sure it does not lose pressure immediately when shutting off the engine. Pressure should be retained for a significant amount of time and only lose a small bit.
