Info for 2007 Volvo S40
Hi, So i work at a Lexus dealership and someone traded in a 2007 S40. It has 38K miles on it, and i can get it around $12,000. Would that be a good deal? And are there any major problems with the model? Anything to look for? It is the 2.4i model. Ive read a review, and they said something about electrical problems, is that common? What is real world MPG for mixed highway/city? Im coming from a Scion tC. Thanks

I bought an '06 2.4i with 10K miles on this past August. I paid just under $16K for it. The car does have little, annoying glitches, but overall, I absolutely love it! The door's electrical connectors have an annoying gremlin in them (like a loose connection), but I haven't had any electrical problems at all. I had to have the clutch spring assembly changed out (warranty) but that may not pertain to your car. The Volvo is heavy and solid and probably not a zippy as your Scion, but you can tell that with a test drive.
As to mileage: I've never gotten under 23 mpg in city driving. Highway is always upper 20's to 30 mpg.
One caveat: check the warranty status before you buy. Call Volvo Corporate to check it. (1.800.458.1552) I got semi-screwed by the previous owner of mine. Through owner neglect, he managed to get Volvo to void the fuel system portion of the warranty. The Mitsuibishi dealer from whom I bought it claims they didn't know. Hmmmmm. Oh well, live and learn. My car runs great and has shown no indications of problems. Moreover, the warranty's still good on the rest of the car.
The car you're interested in sounds like a great deal.
