I noticed there wasn't a how-to thread for intake air filter installation. I went ahead and tried to do it myself and it seemed to be alright. When i started driving it for the first time after installing it, the Check Engine Light came on. When i turned the car off, the cooling fan came on for 10 minutes.

Any suggestions?

 

The best thing to do is find out what the code is. It could be completely unrelated to the air filter install. The filter install is pretty straight forward so unless you hit something of forgot to connect something back up, it is probably unrelated.

 

The MAF does produce this problem if it get oil on it from the performance filter or just a certain someone simple forget to plug the cable back into it.

 

the cable is plugged in and the Maf is pretty clean. the code came up as a maf issue....still the same fan and cel goin on...

 

You can't go wrong cleaning the MAF.

 

its been a few days and i cleaned it and cleared the code...but the light came back up immediately and the fan still goes on.

can someone show me a pic of how the cone filter should look on an s40?

 

well my car no longer holds an idle and the p0102 code is on....
