Default Just got a 2005 S40 T5 AWD

Hello!

I just got a 2005 S40 T5 AWD for my wife and want to know a few things from you experts. It has 51k miles and from the service records, it has had its regular services with the last being a "major" 30k service performed by the local Volvo dealer.

What I'd like to know, if all of you would kindly help me with, is the following:

1) What are some "common" problems with this particular model that I should watch out for?

2) As far as I know, this thing has conventional motor oil in it. I've always run fully synthetic Mobile1 oil in my cars. Would you guys suggest against switching to fully synthetic with this particular engine at 51k miles? Would you suggest a synthetic oil other than Mobile1?

I guess that's only two things that I can think of so far... Thank you in advance for your help!!

Tony

1. Consumer Reports data for 2005 S40. That's all I can offer you on that. Keep in mind a lot of things are going to be the same/ similar to the N/A versions of the car.

2. Yes, switch to synthetic while it's still a fairly young car. This is especially good in turbo'd cars.

Welcome to the boards! Stick around a while and post!
Better yet, post up pictures and enter my new ROTM thread (direct link.)

Why thank you very much!

I will switch it over to Mobile1 fully synthetic and see if it provides any performance increase.

I figure if I run into any specific problems, I'll definitely bring them up here.

Thanks again!
