I just bought a 2000 V40 (not a typo) but it is a sedan.

I cannot find any information regarding a V40 being a non-wagon. Thanks for the help.

Well, the badge says V40 and from the vin I get a V40 but it is a sedan?!?!?

This is one of those new car that you have to own for a few years before it becomes a 'Vagon'. Read the instructions, feed and care for it; it will grow. Time and patience are required.

Don't worry about the humor....I understand that this is a very silly thing.

I have moved from NM to Chicago and I needed a new vehicle. I am currently looking for my camera from all of the moving boxes.

The dealership advertised the vehicle as a S40 (because it is a sedan) and when I got to the dealership it said V40 on the back of the vehicle.

I told the guy that this wasn't the vehicle. I then asked him isn't the V-series the wagon's. He told me I had them mixed up (V's anbd S's). I thought I was 80% correct but didn't care enough to sayanything. The vehicle was great...bought itthere after doing acarfaxreport which again says it is a V40.

I get home to see if I was correct....v's being the wagons.Then Istarted doing research if Volvo changed the S's and V's for a couple of years. Maybe in 2000 the V40 was the sedan.

After which I came to this form....

thats not possible at all, the sedan has always been the S series, there's no question. There was a mistake with whomever reported the car when it was originally manufactured. This isn't a mystery. Unless you lived and bought this car in antarctica it was a real mistake. Take the V40 off the back and get an S40 emblem and put it on....

 

Perhaps your car was involvod in an accident and rebuilt with a combination of S40/V40 parts.
