P0722 - Throttle Position Sensor
Hello everyone. I am new to this site and looking for a little advise:
I have a 2002 S40 1.9T Automatic with 158,000 miles. It runs like a champ, but recently it has displayed the Check Engine Light. Reading the code shows P0722 (Throttle Position Sensor). I have cleared the code two or three times, but it comes back after a number of journeys. Transmission shifting appears to be normal.
This leads me to a couple of questions:
1. Has anyone had this fault code and, if so, what was the cure?
2. My trusty Haynes manual shows two transmission control sensors: vehicle speed and transmission speed. Is P0722 caused by one of these? If so, which one?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Pete.

Thanks for the feedback. I will certainly take a closer look at the transmission electrical system. Is there a way to check the sensor (e.g. continuity) or does it fail in different ways so the only sure method is replacement?
