Question about my Gas tank capacity
The S40 is supposed to hold 15.9 gallons of gas right? well how come when i fill up my car when it has approximately 2 gallons left, it fills up only 9 gallons, totalling 11 gallons maxed out, what happened to the other 4.9 gallons?
also my gas burns pretty fast, is the gas meter running a different way? the first half finished quickly, i drove about 100 miles yesterday but the gas gauge made it seem like i drove 300

I would think that the fuel gauge is faulty and is reading low.
I was told, many years ago, "There is only one thing in a car more temperamental than the driver and that is the fuel gauge."

There have been many other posts in this forum that deal with the same issue. I once let my car run out of gas to see how far it would go after the trip computer indicated that I had less than 10 miles left ("FUEL") At which point I was able to squeeze about 15 gallons in the tank. I think the gauge is simply calibrated wrong since it appears to be an issue with just about everybody.
I may be the only one with no probs anymore, i just made a 600 mile trip and got 31.97 miles to the gallon. i have a 2000 s40, i went 487 miles and put 15 gallons in my car, 15. 19 or so.....i have put 16.1 in my tank.
What's that in metric, haha.
Mine is about 60 Litres, all i know mine is a very thirsty girl. I also use 94 oct.
My gauge is pretty acurate, I have only seen light once and took 58 litres.

I thought I had a problem with my car's fuel gauge, but it seems like everyone is having this sort of issue. Does any of you guys know how to recaliberate the fuel gauge so it would read the gas capacity correctly?
Thanks,
Thanks,
