Radio is 'OFF'
I recently had the battery replaced in my 2002 S 40. When I turned the radio (HU -615) on, it prompted me to enter a code. I tried two I found on the web, but neither worked and the radio now will only say 'OFF'. How do I get my radio back 'online'? Thanks!
If Radio is in OFF and you have the code the procedure is . Make sure Battery connected .The ignition Key must be in position 1 which is accessories. The Radio Unit must be turned on and will display OFF .You need to leave the car in this positon for 2 hours and the word CODE will display then enter the correct CODE with the radio station preset buttons .Some posters have suggested one hour is the time period but officially it is 2 hours but when display changes to CODE then tou are ready to enter. .
but leaving the ignition on, the fan runs and my car battery drained

Yes if the key is in the ignition position (2nd) your battery will go dead. Turn the key to the first position, the accessory position. Turn the climate system, wipers and lights off. Turn the radio on. OFF is displayed (and the radio will be the only thing using current) After 2 hours, (not 1) off will change to code. Then enter the correct code. The code might be written on top of the radio. To get the code from Volvo you will need the information on top of the radio anyway. It is possible that Volvo has the code by your VIN number - as long as it's still the original radio.
