Default Radio Code

I just purchased a 1998 V70 AWD. The code on the radio had to be re-entered due to a car battery replacement. Apparently the radio was already replaced once, so the code that they were entering was incorrect. The radio locked up after three attempts. They got the correct code from Volvo, waited 4 hours with the radio on,but the radio only displays "OFF". From what I understand, it should display "code". Does anyone have a solution or tip as to how to fix this problem? <edited><editID>Benn</editID><editDate>38027.8788194444</editDate></edited>

Default Radio Code

i just went through the same deal. get the radio code from your dealer, write it down and go for a two hour drive or leave the ignition on for two hours. after two hours the radio will show code again. remember, three strikes and you are out for another two hours.
