Default replacing sparkplugs

Has anyone changed sparkplugs on a 2006 S40 2.4 my main question is do I have to replace the intake manafold gasket after removing it to get to the plugs?
Does anyone have instructions possible pictures on how to replace the sparkplugs?

Thanks, Costy

sorry dont know. the phase 1 & 2 s40's are extremely simple (2000-2004) but we didn't have to touch any gaskets...

If you're in central PA I'll do it for you. But no, you only have to remove the cover as far as I can see. You will have to remove the coil packs, but no gaskets. Chances are if there is a seal there it is just to keep dust out. Wipe it clean and you're good.

I can't answer for the newer models but on the older ones it's a coil-on-plug setup. 2 coils and 2 wires to the other cylinders. They are completely hidden by a beauty cover on the engine. Remove 6 torx bolts and then you see them. I have never run across a car that required the intake manifold to be removed but who knows what manufacturers could come out with in the future. Good luck!

well there's your problem, hondas are extremely easy to find everything, you have to use your torx and take the valve cover off, then you cant miss them, right on top of the engine.

02ish Nissan Maxima w/ 3.5L v6 requires you to remove the intake manifold for the rear 3 spark plugs. wack

I would sell any car that did that, lol. I have seen some that are hard to access, but removing the intake is a PITA. Did you get the answer yet?

Yes. it is a T-30 as I recall. And I would call it a 'spark plug cover' rather than the valve cover. . . just todifferientate (sp) for those that may not know better.

01 s40 pop the cover off and youll see the 4 cylinder caps under those are the spark plugs. id imagine its the same for the newer models. volvo has a nice tendency to keep things the same

Agreed. And of all Euro cars, they are by far my favorite to work on.
