suspension question
I have a 2007 s40 2.4i volvo 1 year no major problems, great car, but rides a little stiff, is this a common trait with volvos, I'm a prior VW passat owner, no rattles just a little chopy on rough roads, but handles good. I have the 16" wheels not the sport package..any advise change in struts and shocks or springs?
I got a 2006 S 40 and when I purchased the car I was also test driving the S 60, I chosed the S 40 because of the stiffnes and the great hanling over the S 60 which feels more like a sedan versus a sports sedan.
I know this does not help you but I guess this is how the S 40 is designed and here in CA the roads are pretty smooth.
Enjoy your new ride, Costy

Hmm. What's the mileage? I'm guessing low since you have had it only one year. My '03 with 135K+ is also a bit stiff but it seems that is the nature of the car. I'm wondering if you could go with a different strut. I doubt there are that many options unless you can find a different spring set.
I used to own a Passat too, now I own a 2005 S40 T5.

if you're looking for better handling then you have options, as far as stiffness...I've noticed that a lot of S40's oem setup is stiff...you can always get koni's or bilsteins and lower the car with eibach or h&r springs
Thanks for all the advise, I contacted IPD I'm going to order a set of koni fsd and a different rear bar, I will just enjoy the car it does handle really good. SmileLA roads are really beat up on my route.. Thanks again.
