Hi guys! Staight to the point, need to know which model and year that is compatible with the S40 2001 alternator.

 

Generally the Gen 1 S40s have common engine parts for 2000-2004 model years for both the S and V models. It will also be shared with 1999s which did not come to the US. These are the "Neds" car and a different platform from the 60/70s. To determine what after market parts may fit, a good strategy is to find the Volvo OEM part number then search for that - Tasca parts shows the alternator as PN 36050282 which is a 120A alternator. ($370 - special order).

Google on any of those numbers to find a comparable replacement part. Stores like FCP and IPD and Rock Auto etc will also show other vehicles.

Final thought - If your car is not charging properly, it may be the voltage regulator vs the alternator. On some Volvos you can replace the regulator separate from the alternator. Google Volvo PN 9472906 to find a replacement voltage regulator (should be under $100).
