Default S40 Check Engine Light and Engine Service Required

Hi,

My 04' S40 recently has Check Engine Light (CEL) on, and "Engine Service Required" (ESR) shown as "Information" (not warning). ESR message disappeared after turn off/on the car, but CEL stays.

I went to AutoZone pull the code, shown as P0607
Definition: Control Module Performance
Explanation: Open or short circuit condition
Probable cause:
1. Poor electrical condition
2. Failed ECM

I recently replaced a fuse which was blown up by my GPS (twice).
The fuse is still working now. THE CEL light showed up 3 weeks after I replace fuse. Not sure they are related. Anything else?

Please help.

Mine is base model/2.4i. I do not recall S40 has P1 model in 2004

Default Let's say it is new style.

Volvo/2004/S40-2.4i cannot uniquely identify a car? and Volvo has both new and old style for the same model in the same year?

If you are asking if this car looks like old "boxy" S40, or new "curvy" S40. Mine is later, with four round control buttons at the panel.

Hope it helps identify the car. Or maybe you briefly give some what-if analysis, like if old style, check this; if new style, check that.

Thanks

a p1 s40 started 2004.5. that's how volvo stated them. 2004 s40 could be a old or p1 s40. In order to give u the right diagnosis, we need to know which one it is. but since u don't even know which type u r driving, i suggest u go be to the dealer to find out what the problem is.
