S40 Replacement Gas Cap
Hello,
I apologize in advance if I'm beating a dead horse here but I searched this subject and didn't really find anything related to my question. I have a question pertaining to a replacement gas cap for my 2005 S40. My OEM cap broke today and I was trying to find out if I had to purchase an OEM cap from Volvo because of the vapor venting/CEL triggering type issues or would I be able to purchase an aftermarket gas cap made for the S40 from a reputable auto supply store and use it without running in to any issues. Thank you in advance for your feedback/advice.

don't see a reason an after market cap wouldn't work provided its designed for the car, but at the end of the day you're talking about saving $10 here. You can find a new Genuine Volvo cap online for under $30 and after market without the retaining cord for $15. Throw in the cord for another $5 and there's only $10 in savings. Try googling "Volvo 31261589" for some online parts sites.
