I am new to this site and have owned my 2000 Volvo S40 1.9t for about a year now. It has well over 200K on it and still runs like a dream.

As of late I have had an issue with loud exhaust and I climbed up under the car to find out that the exhaust is dumping before the catalytic converter. I looked up the schematics of the exhaust system online and it looks like the Turbo Converter and Catalytic Converter are the same piece? I'm not sure if anyone on here has any experience in this area however I am looking to get it fixed, however do not have a spare $800 for this so called piece. I was wondering if I could get an exhaust shop to cut a piece as a temporary fix as I am to drive to North Carolina from Michigan this coming Sunday...
