Default S40 wiring harness?

For what it’s worth I’m no mechanic. I just joined this group to better understand my car and to become more knowledgeable on the subject. My dad started my car on fire and I’m trying to understand how this happened and why. It’s a lot to explain so if anyone knows anything about the wiring harness and the sensors please feel free to message me.

there's different wiring harnesses and sensors in the car so it really depends where and how it happened. In the simplest sense, something short circuited and produced enough heat to melt insulation and may have even started stuff to burn. Are you planning on doing some of your own trouble shooting? If so, start by finding a wiring diagram (google around, there's stuff on line or if your car is a 2014 or older you can check eBay for a VIDA CD to give you a lot of details). If your relay box(es) are not damaged you can start by removing the battery (if you havent done so already) then pull the relays and probe to see which if any show a short (most relays have two small spades which energize the relay and the two big spades provide the amps to the device) Some relays are internal to the CEM which usually is under the dash and will have several multi-pin connectors going into it. Again your wiring diagram will provide a pin out to help you figure out which wires do what etc and you need to figure out which should not show zero resistance to ground. Where are you seeing damage or bubbly/melted wire insulation?

I assured that the fire started in the exhaust system becuz that’s how it was decribed to me but on further examination I’ve found that it actually started directly under the hood like around where the camshaft solenoid is located…I think that’s what it’s called. Anyways it’s all burned the connectors around the area but not by where the fuse box is located on the far right of the engine if you’re looking at the engine. I ordered the wiring harness should be here by the 3rd and downloaded the wiring diagram like u suggested. The guy that’s suppose to be working on my car is a friend of a friend cuz I can’t afford to take it to a shop and spend hundreds. Any who. I’ll keep u informed on how things go. Fingers crossed on the wiring being the correct one. Thanks for the response

Question: is there two camshaft solenoids I was told there’s one on top of the engine is there possibly another one located under the cam? I changed the one but I don’t kno where the second on is located?
