Yesterday i foolishly put 17litres into my 2005 s40 2.0d.....I drove it 1 mile stopped went into the shop and came back out tried to start it once and i knew straight away what i had done... the mechanic near my house said if he drained the unleaded out of the car and if he could might be able to get away without changing fuel filter and so on... Today he rang me and told me the fuel issue was solved but my starter motor was gone..my big question is how is this possible i genuinely only tried to start it once,...Has anybody had similar problems???? Thanks

 

I haven't heard of unleaded causing a no-start with these cars, but even then, I would try an octane booster before draining all of the gas out...

Was the starter the culprit from the beginning, or did it crank?
