Default Shift ****

I was wondering if any one could explain to me how to replace the shift ****. I don't want to rip apart the console with knowing what to do.

Where the boot meets the **** you will need to turn it to release the clip inside the boot. Then slide the boot down. Then grab and yank the **** off.

As long as you get the boot loose from the **** then you will be fine.
You are replacing the **** correct?

I am going to replace the ****, the stock one is very sticky and when i shift into park button does not disengage, can't get key out. have to force button manually. I hope to get new shift **** this weekend. By the by, took me over a week to figure out what was wrong, guy at dealership knew right away. sounds like a common problem.
