Default silencer

New to the forum. I know that my truck has a silencer in the air intake that can be removed for a little power and sound. Do these volvos work the same way? Is there a silencer that I can remove to boost anything? Just trying to think of cheap ways to get a little more out of it. Thanks. Its a 2000 s40

No

If you want more power do it the right way.

If your turboed get a 3" downpipe and a 2.5" catback system mandrel bent for you at a local muffler shop with a free flowing muffler like Magnaflow.

Get an ECU upgrade, IPD/RICA/BSR/EST/Upsolute/SpeedTuning USA.

An EST intake kit wont add you any horsepower, just looks nice under the hood and if your turboed you can hear the turbo more.

Thanks. Would it be alright to do that in stages, like get the muffler installed first and then later get the downpipe and everything else? Dont have a ton to spend right now. Also, is there a particular part number I should look for with the magnaflow muffler?

Well for starters is your car turboed already?

Secondly the downpipe is where your going to see the most gains. 3" is what your going to want and with the 2000 s40 I don't know if it is all intergrated but it might be. And a 2.5" catback with free flowing muffler.

Yes you can do this in stages, but think it out first.
