Default spark plug change on 1999 Volvo S40 1.8i

Just getting to know this car - or so I thought. Having removed the plastic engine cover, I expected to find standard HT leads feeding the plugs. That was so for No 1&2 cylinders but Nos 3&4 have ignition coil units built into their HT leads with wires various running along the cylinder head. Haynes says that's specific to turbocharged models, which I didn't think I had. Can any member enlighten me and should I start looking for a turbo?

There is no 1999 S40 in the US. But the US model has two coils and two wires, as you describe. I don't see why the 1.8 would be any different.

Thanks for that quick reply. I suspect that the writer of the Haynes Manual got it wrong. I've found a number of errors in the short time I've owned the car.
