Default Thinking of purchasing 2000 S40 - Some Questions

Hello,

A local dealership has a 2000 Volvo S40 A 4dr Sdn for sale. I took it for a test drive today and I loved the way it handled and ran.

Here are the details from the dealership:
Engine: 2.0L 4 cyl Turbo Fuel Injected
Model Code: S40A
Transmission: 4 speed automatic
VIN: YV1VS2552YF532997
Mileage: 132,960

The carfax record is clear. During the test drive a light on the dash came on - Service - but the dealership has not yet investigated. It is a GM dealership so this is not their specialty.

Any questions I should ask? Anything from this generation that might give me issues?

Any help is greatly appreciated - they are asking about $6000 for it which sounds like a pretty good deal.

Thanks,
Richard

First off, that is WAAAAY to expensive!
I paid $5750 for mine with 89,000 miles.

Second, the service light is an easy thing to turn off, it's basically just a reminder to change to oil.

Third, that's A LOT of miles. Read through this: https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s40-11/frequently-asked-questions-34712/
