I'm a new member here,site seems great-hope someone can help.
I have a s40se 1.8 petrol,for the last 3 months the engine has been makeing a ticking noise,mainly when cold but also when warm(but not as loud).I've checked oil which is fine,am i worrying about nothing or could it be something more serious?

If you remove the oil filler cap does it look very clean in there or does it look sludgey?
It is also possible it might be the oil pan o-rings.

I checked the oil and it was not sludgy,where are the oil pan-o rings?

 

You have to remove the oil pan to replace them.They are between the oil pan and the block.
