Default Trunk won't open

Hi,

My trunk will not open. It was working fine a few weeks back. Nothing happens when I push the button in. I pulled the back seats down and tried to see if something was stuck, but everything looks fine. Is there a trunk release button? The manual isn't helping much. Thanks in advance!

Did you try any buttons inside the car if there is any. I have a trunk release lever on my drivers door.

No...no trunk buttons in the car. I wish I had one. It would make it more convenient.

Hi sagi122,

Have you tried unlocking the trunk with the key? My trunk has seemed "stuck" several times, then I realized that someone locked it with the key. Sometimes, it seems hard to get it "unjammed" with the key... because it takes a few seconds to unlock it. It's worth a try...

I tried using the key, but had no success.

It's driving me crazy! I'm afraid I'll get a flat, and no way to access my spare.

I'm going back out and I'll try doing the key again. Maybe if I jiggle the key it will help..thanks!

I think you have to push the button in at the same time... I can't remember. It is harder than it should be though! [sm=dontgetit.gif]

There is a week spot in the button setup that breaks.

You will have to pull the panel from inside then open the trunk. You can fold the seats down then go in from there.

I have seen it many times. You will have to replace the button assembly.

Thanks Tech,

Looks like I will be crawling into my trunk this weekend!

Can you only buy the button assembly at the dealership.

Last time I knew you could buy just the button assembly.

I had the same problem in my '02 S40 twice. I had to open the popping screws in the trunk and tinker with the set-up of the trunk button. Something just had to been clicked back into place. What a pain :-p But the problem was fixed!

My 2002 s40 has a t-handle inside the trunk that you can pull from the inside and release the trunk. It is designed for someone who gets locked in the trunk so they can get out. Does your car have one?BJ
