Default turn signal sometimes working

2003 S40

I have a front left turn signal that works maybe the first time or two after I start it up in the morning or after being at rest and from then on during the drive I get the quick turn signal lights on my dash and the rear light blinks quickly when I use it.

Does this sound like a bulb problem or something more to do with electrical.

Also and I don't know if this is coindicence over the last 2-3 months I've probably replaced 3-4 lights, either headlight / rear break lights. I don't know if it's just that time where they've gotten enough use or some other issue.

Thanks for any help or comments.

I have a similar problem, sometimes the turn signal clicks too fast, sometimes it works.

On the internet I've read that the turn signal blinks too fast if a bulb is burned out. My bulbs look okay, so I'm just going to replace some and see if I can tighten any electrical connections.

They say the signal relay is involved if the signals don't work at all.

I have a volvo manual but I'm having a hard time finding anything mention of turn signal anywhere.

I just ended up changing the bulb, haven't had a problem since.

I'm having this problem with my 2000 s40. I actually went out today and bought the replacement bulbs. I can't figure out how to get in and change the actual turn signal bulbs. Is there some easy step I'm over looking? It seems to be wedged in by the battery and the side panel of the car's body. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't know about the 2000 model but in my 2003 s40 I'm pretty sure the headlight unit swiveled out after loosening and removing a nut? I know it's attached somehow but I forget. If my hood latch wasn't messed up and opening it wasn't a two person job I'd take a picture right now.

There was a screw that just needed to be loosened and then the whole light was able to just slide out. Thanks for the help and giving it some thought!

My mechanic pointed out the problem. The connections had this hard grey corrosion that had to be chipped off. All fine now.
