I apologize if this is in the wrong area,it is my first post. My daughter side swiped another car while driving her 2000 v40 turbo. It damaged the passenger side doors and a small amount of body under those doors.Everything else is fine,it runs normal etc. Issue is she only had liability insurance so it won't cover any of the repairs. The body shop quotes were higher than she can afford. We at this point are not sure of the best way to sell this car, 90% of the car is perfectly normal it drives perfect, has all its service records,no issues its just been a great car, the passenger side is the only issue. Should we list it on ex: craigslist for sale as-is? Or take it to a salvage yard and sell it for parts(even though it drives great?). Thank you for any advice.

A side swipe can be quite superficial damage as opposed to a 'T'-bone type impact.

 

If the car drives and runs well, why get rid of it? Parts? That will only yield you about $300.

Post a few pics, maybe you can get by with a couple of doors. Salvage yards only charge about $50 per door.

You have a huge source of used Volvo parts/panels there in the USA compared to here down under.

Thanks for the replies. We are asking $2500 for it. Its our daughters car and she would rather move on than take the time and money to repair it.She has her mind on a v50. We have owned the car 3 yrs, its been a daily driver, maintained we have all the paperwork from repairs, which have been very minimal. Its obv a turbo, is silver, has tan leather seats,the rear cargo cover screen and sunroof,am/fm cass. Interior is so so, no tears just wear to the seats and liner is starting to get loose in rear,as well as some water spots/stains on liner. Dash is all good. Original manual and key. The passenger side is what she side swiped,it wasnt a fast or even bad wreck but it was enough to do damage to both doors(both do open and close) and some of the body around the rear door mainly,The rest of the car was untouched. We would be selling it as-is. I have tried to attach pics but its asking for url of my image and im having issues getting this to work.If you would like pics you can message/email me and I can send them to you.

I think the price is to high. My guess would be $900 or something like that.
