Default VACUM LEAK

Hi all i,v been having this problem lately were my 2001 gdivolvo s40 1.8 has been very rough idleing or over reving, for eg: if i was driving to a traffic light but my foot on the clutch the rev would come down to about 1500 rpm and stay there and some times it would drop to normal, and then most of the time i can't go beyond 4000rpm no matter how hard i accelerate, and when that happen there is a loss of power also,
Is there anybody out there with a similar problem,
I think it is either a vacum leak or possible bad coil, i,m no mechanic only a guess,

please plaese please help it been like this for month and i,v change spark plugs and fuel filter, and air filter

go to s40concepts.net to the how to forum, before anything you should clean your MAF sensor and your AIC. Check under the how to's there for more information.

Is this a UK or European car? I ask because I've never heard of a GDI 1.8 S40. Is it a diesel?

Default overreving

What would normally cause a car to over revintermitently and not go over 4000rpm ever so often
