Volvo S40 2.4
Good morning guys. I am a new user. New on the forum. I need some advices for my S40 volvo is a model of 2005. Today morning while i was driving to work. I had an error mesage. Check stop lamp. I stopped to check if all the tail lights are working and to my supprise they all work just fine. Now i am not sure why i got the error mesage. Coould maybe someone please advice me on what would be a problem. Thank you in advance
This might seem obvious, but you said you checked the tail lights. Did you check the STOP lights (which, of course, would require somehow holding down the brake pedal)?
Otherwise, it's possible you just have a loose / corroded connection to one of your brake lamp sockets, or perhaps a bad bulb. Easy enough to get access to the bulbs from behind (through the trunk access panels) and wiggle things around - with the brake pedal down - and see if one or more of your lamps goes on and off as you do so. If so, clean, burnish, re-tension, re-insert, and maybe replace the bulb. It's a common problem (one I had on my V70).
