Default volvo s40 A/C fix

I have resolved several issues my otherwise very reliable S40 has suffered from in the last few months. After 4 years of ownership I would have to say it is the friendliest (DIY) car I have ever worked on besides my 1969 VW Beetle. However...
My a/c has quit working altogether. As I live in south Florida and it rains a lot, It is imperative that I get my a/c back on line. It removes moisture in the interior allowing me to see where I am going when it rains. Most of the time the heat does not bother me in the least. It's just when it rains that it is annoying as it gets the windows steamed up. I would like to get this done ASAP.
Now the symptoms in order.
1.AT first (this took a long time to occur) the a/c was just fine no draw on the engine, I thought this was really cool since this is a 4 banger and I was expecting the a/c to draw from the engine a bit. But I attributed that to it being a turbo and this kept the a/c nice and cold at all speeds.
2.Then the a/c was fluctuating. So I turned it from auto and adjusted it manually seemed to work fine.
3.Then it began to only work at high fan speeds no matter what I put it on it would run high. Blowing at max no matter if on or not.
4. The next day nothing no air at all. I can turn the a/c on but NO AIR blowing out of vents. I know it is working because the a/c lines under the hood are getting cold and frosty, but no fan is blowing this cold air into the cockpit.
I was wondering where are the relays for this system, first.
Then where can I find a dash unit replacement for the switches (the whole thing) if the relay replacement does not work? Thanks so much for responses.

I replied to you in the other thread above about the resistor. I did not mention that on my 2001 there was a recall for the fan motor not working causing the interior glass to fog. I can tell the recall was done because there is an additional connector between the car harness and the fan motor which contains the diode described below.

When trying to diagnose my original problem I disconnected the fan motor and hooked it to 12v and ground directly to make sure the fan worked.

Summary:
Certain passenger vehicles are being recalled for a problem with a diode in the electronic climate control system. The diode may have a reduced service life.

Remedy:
Dealers will install an adapter with a diode fitted to the heater fan motor. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began June 11, 2001. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Volvo at 1-800-458-1552.

Do you think this is the problem that I've been trying to explain?
