Default Volvo S40 T4, Fixer uper

Hi all

I'm looking for a Volvo S40 T4, and looked at one today, a 2000 model. Here are my questions:

1 - The turn signal stays on, the steering wheel doesn't turn it off. Is this easy to fix/expensive. His a DIY easy?
2 - The car I saw did not have on board computer (not sure about the name). Can it be fitted?
3 - The drive side windows had an auto mode, but only to open the window. To close you had to press the button till the end. Is this normal?
4 - The gas pedal is very stiff/hard. Normal?
5 - The radio antenna doesn't rise. Easy to fix? What usually causes it?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi fcpgroton,

1 - what screw would you be talking about?
2 - I'm talking about the one that gives info, like MPG, instant consumption, etc.
3 - Yes it is normal. Already talked to someone that has/had an S40, and it is normal.
4 - Also normal according to some one that has/had one.
5 - I don't see any part broken on the out side. Is the access to the motor and so forth trough the boot?

JondevieonS40, I'm not quite sure yet, but the owner is asking for 4250€. The car is 2000 model and has 139000km, about 86875 miles. I'm going to try a swap for my Citroen Xantia this Saturday. The car shows it's 11 years, on the outside and on the inside, so I'm guessing it's a bit expensive. Let's see...

Well,

I got the car. It has a service record up to 134000km. I got it with 138500km, so that's good news

Now I need to fix the turn signal problem, and the antenna. I think those are the most "urgent".

The sits are a bit ripped. I tried to buy some covers, but since the head rests don't move, the didn't fit. I might try an upholsterer latter.

I will have to give it a bit of a clean up, in and out, then I will post some pics.

The engine is the 1.855L.

I glanced at the owners manual and saw the timing belt/chain should be changed at 120000km. Can anyone confirm?

I will ring the Volvo dealership to know the service history, mainly the timing belt/chain.

Pics to follow

Daniel

Hello again.

I know this is a particular question, and it probably relates to Portuguese rules, at the time, but no harm in asking I suppose.

My Volvo S40 T4 was registered in 05-2000. The engine is a 1.855L.
My question is, how many airbags those this car have?
I can see the SRS on the steering wheel, and the SIPS on the side of both seats (driver and passenger). The front windscreen has 2 stickers, one on each side, with the picture of the airbag, but I don't see it anywhere in the dashboard of the passengers side.

So, I'm guessing 4 airbags.... where these the passenger side front airbag comes from?

Thanks,

Daniel
