weak a/c issues 03 S40
My A/C is weak when in traffic or low speed. I will list the symptoms and any feedback you guys can give would be great.
When it's above 85 or so outside (often in TN) the A/C blows almost warm air. Above 30MPH or so it gets decently cold.
Also, when accelerating the A/C will get cold briefly. I tried to sit still and 'rev' to 2.5k on the tach but it didn't really help. (I thought maybe compressor needs more spin)

There may be a leak in the system. have it checked out... if it leaks the shop that will perform the work will not allow the car to with refriegerant... Unless that place is willing to do it illegally and top up the system for u...
Thanks for all your feedback.
More info:This problem has been steady for the past 2 years, i'm just getting around to being sick of burning up in traffic. So..hopefully not a leak. Also, it's really weird how it deals with sun/shade. If I pull under an overpass (in traffic) the air starts to work pretty good. Or, if I go to a carwash it works great while idling in the carwash. Or..behind a shaded tree for instance. It may still be a charge issue but I thought it may be a cooling issue in addition. Although, I haven't had any cooling issues (according to the dash) and it had a new CTS and thermo last year. Thanks again for the help.

I have seen cooling fan goes on those cars... if the passenger front fan is not working while a/c is on it will have over pressure and engine control module will turn a/c off... based on what u said once in car wash it will be cold due to water get splashed on condenser (the unit in front of radiator) and will lower the pressure... Causing the a/c to work again... The odd part is what u said about the shade... could be the sunlight sensor... ??? ( the Alarm LED flashing lamp ) could probably turn a/c off.
