What Is Brake Fluid Flush? required in my case?
s40 2006 2.4i
-brake oil been going low since last 10k kms
-last time the volvo dealership mechanic topped it up about 7k kms ago (he should have checked for any leaks though as i just read at few places there is no reason for it to run low unless there is a leak)
-i topped it up once after that as well
-took the car for maintenance last week and this time the same mechanic checked it for leaks and there is a leak on brake line, he tightened the screws and advised to monitor.
Question: do the car really need brake oil flush since its been flushing/leaking by itself?

To renew the brake fluid every 2 year is a smart thing. It is hard to believe that you were loosing so much fluid tho trough a leak you should have had seen it appearing somewhere or have an effect on the brake performance..It is normal to have the fluid low after a longer period of time as the brake pads do wear down the fluid goes down.Usually to have the fluid low is a sure sign that the pads are going out and it is time to replace.I can not put my fingers on it but something fishy with that mech as the brake hoses doesnt just loosen up on their own its not something just could happen anytime as it is so rare I actually never heard of it.
-it's been 3 days since the brake line joints were tightened and i checked it today and there is no leak, the reason it went unnoticed was the oil was dropping into the plastic casing around the line and never made it to the floor.
-Now since i have refilled brake oil reserve about 2+ times, so i need to get the brake oil flushed? I mean to say its already been flushed due to leak

Fluid was likely leaking when the pedal was depressed and the pressure increases. When the pedal is released, the negative pressure may draw air, moisture and contaminants in through the leak location. I'd talk to your mechanic but I think a flush would be a good idea. Or at least bleed the brakes.
