Question What to look for?

Hi all. I'm about to purchase a 2000 Volvo S40 as a daily to give my M3 a break. After checking over it myself it seems to need some vacuum pieces, a brake overhaul and the oil looks a bit black, may need a good engine RX and some fresh Full syn. oil.

Any advise on what things are common problems on these cars and what to look out for. also i think i may have a PPI done on the vehicle just to verify.

Thanks in advance.

Also one question, Do these cars have timing belts? I noticed the cam to cam belt, is that the only one. Sorry for the newb question but this is alot different than a BMW so i am a bit lost.

well, these Mitsubishi's, I mean Volvos, excuse me are ok. Any check engine lights or such, can be $$$. They have timing belts, every 105000 should be replaced. Hopefully it was kept up, otherwise...
