Wheel Bearings
Hi Everyone,
I am new here!
I replaces my front left wheel bearing 40k ago (Volvo dealer did the work). Sounds like it needs to be replaced again.
I have had to replace A LOT of front suspension stuff. A mechanic mentioned this is abnormal for this car.
40k seems to be quick for a wheel bearing.Thoughts?
I do about 50% highway, 50% city/ crappy road driving.

pretty soon for a wheel bearing. Should be under warranty if it was within the last 24 months.
BTW: Volvo parts installed at a Volvo dealer are now covered for lifetime as of the 1st of the year parts & labor (some items exempt)

my experience with wheel bearings is that they can sometimes be hard to pin down which wheel until they really scream. recently did a front left on my daughter's 850 - thinking it was the second time, but when I checked my history it turned out I had done the right front about 50K miles prior :-) I'd also check for other sources of rotational noises - brakes, CV joints, e-brake shoes (ie in the case of the 850s the shoes can have the pads separate) etc.
Dealer said its the left front again along with the sway bars (which where also replaced 2.5 years ago). I can hear it get louder when I turn right which makes sense.
My calipers seized a few months ago- what a mess. I am guessing the heat from that could have caused some wear and tear on the wheel bearing as well?
seized calipers= new calipers, brakes, rotors and now wheel bearings
The joys of an old car.
I love my car, I love my car, I love my car...
