Default 2000 S40 MAP location

I have a 2000 s40 and the MAP is not located next to the temp sensor - where else did they have them on the 2000 s40?

Hidden under the fuel rail between the right two intake runners. You can just barely see the black plastic in this photo. (to the right of the oil dipstick handle)

Default Red Box

my 2000 volvo s40 threw at MAP and MAF codes

I looked at where the red box shows and tokk that sensor out - its a temperature sensor

I guess the MAP is under the fuel rail?

Default Thanks

Ill look there tonight when I get home - the gas mileage is killing me

Do you recommend a brand on the MAP and MAP sensors?

OR a brand to stay away from?

I don't have a recommendation really. I go for price with a warranty knowing that I can take the part back if it's bad. If you have the cash go for original Volvo parts. I just want it to work. Whether it's OEM or not does not bother me.

Default need help changing map sensor volvo s40 2000

Hi, I need help changing the map sensor in my volvo s40 2000. I have located it between the 3rd and 4th rail but I can't remove the fuel rail. I am too scared to mess anything there without knowing how to get it out. I can't reach the bolt in the MAP sensor (maybe I need a better wrench?) The wrench I have is too tall to reach in between the long metal rail and the map sensor.

Default map volvo s40 t4 1.9L b4194T 1998

Hi everyone, I'm new around here, I have a s40 t4 1.9L b4194T from 1998 and the intake manifold does not have a map sensor or the intercooler tube either, where is it located?

I am definetly no expert on this subject. My dealer showed me the schematics for both MAP sensor locations and they both showed the same part number. Apparently one measures boost and the other barometric pressure. I wasn't sure which one to replace first but I started with the one on the intake manifold and luckily found the problem there. Didn't have to touch the one above the intercooler.

It is still amazing to me that I fought this problem for so long and had the dealer quote me such an outrageous price only to fix it myself for $82 and 10 minutes later with a stupid little electrical sensor. (Once I found the actual MAP sensor locations that is). My car has been running great ever since.
I'm assuming that my 2002 V40 has two MAP sensors as well? I hope replacing one will help for now.
